Touring

Singers in the Touring Choir are beautifully precise.

“One of the finest choirs I have heard in America.”  — Francisco Nunez, Grammy-Award winning choral director.

The Touring Choir is the most advanced ensemble of the Kalamazoo Children’s Chorus. Directed by Fred Sang, the Touring Choir specializes in three and four part treble (SSAA) repertoire with an emphasis on contemporary choral literature. They also perform music of the Renaissance, Classical and Romantic periods. This choir performs with the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra, the Kalamazoo Oratorio Society and for various community organizations.

Artistic Director, Fred Sang, also directs the Touring Choir.

In 2019 the Touring Choir will travel to the Republic of Costa Rica with the Bella Voce Choir.  The Touring Choir performs at the Holiday Concert, Spring Concert, Themed Cabaret, and other opportunities as they arise. Membership in this ensemble requires a strong commitment to the rehearsal and performance schedule. Typically members of this ensemble are in high school.

INVESTING IN CITIZENSHIP:  KCC encourages and offers a variety of volunteer opportunities for all KCC members.  Touring Choir members, in particular, are given a variety of opportunities throughout the concert season.   By helping us help them to earn volunteer hours for school or National Honors Society, KCC  instills a sense of community responsibility in young adults.   Some volunteer at New Member Auditions in April and May – providing support and advise to help chase away audition jitters.  Still others work with uniform fittings or as Camp Council’s in our summer Eastside Choir Camp program.  KCC is very proud of these talented teens.

Touring Choir members make are fun mentors!

Prep kids have a blast with KCC big sibs! It’s part of the KCC mentoring program.

The ties that bind. The KCC mentor program makes the Chorus family!

KCC MENTOR PROGRAM:  Touring Choir members have an opportunity to be mentors to KCC’s youngest choir members, the Preparatory Choir.  In this roll, they serve as big brothers and big sisters to the newest members of the Chorus.  Great relationships start at retreat and grow from there.

The Kalamazoo Children’s Chorus thanks the Baird Family for their generous underwriting support for the 2017-2018 Touring Choir.
