Music Makers
An Early Elementary Choral Experience
The Kalamazoo Children's Chorus has provided a professional level of choral training for students ages 8-18 for over a quarter of a century.
Over the past decade we have been asked to provide an in depth music opportunity for first and second grade students. As a result of these requests we have developed a program suited to the exceptional musical child in grades one and two.
It is our intent to provide the same high quality musical experience that we are known for in our choral ensembles.
THE PROGRAM
Classes for each grade level will meet once a week after school for 45 minutes. During that time, the focus of the experience will be on singing, movement, Orff and Kodaly training, and musical games. All these elements are designed to stimulate and reinforce the child's love of music. In order to provide the necessary individual attention needed for these youngsters the class size will not exceed twenty children.
THE PHILOSOPHY
We believe that every child has an innate love of music. Our highly qualified instructors will nurture and allow that love to flourish and grow. The use of small instruments, movement, and above all singing, will provide a fertile environment for the child to grow vocally and musically.
THE STRUCTURE
Class will meet once a week after school. Class will begin during the first full week of school and end after the first full week of May. Parents will be welcome to attend the last 10 minutes of class to observe. There will be mini class performances in December and May.
THE COST
The tuition for this class is $300. A $100 non-refundable deposit must be paid to secure a spot for your child. Due to our limited number of openings we will accept children on a first come basis. You may arrange for a payment plan for the balance of the tuition.
